Guide

Install Anan on your device

Anan is a web app — there’s nothing to buy and no app store required. Add it to your home screen and it runs full-screen and works offline, like a normal app.

The quick version

Open the app on any device, then choose Add to Home Screen (or Install) from the browser menu. It then opens full-screen and works offline. That’s it.

iPhone & iPad

Apple installs apps through the browser, not a download. In Safari:

  1. Open the app in Safari.
  2. Tap the Share button (a square with an up arrow).
  3. Choose Add to Home Screen, then tap Add.

It then opens full-screen like a normal app and works offline.

Android

In Chrome, open the ⋮ menu and choose Install app. A packaged Android app is also available, and a Google Play release is planned.

Chromebook, Windows & Mac

Open the app in any modern browser. On Chromebook and Chrome/Edge you can install it from the address-bar install icon; on other browsers you can use it directly in the tab. Everything stays on the device either way.

What “offline” means

After the first load, Anan caches itself on the device. From then on the boards, speaking, typing, switch access and learning all work with no internet — at home, in the car, or anywhere with no signal. The on-device voice needs no connection; the optional natural voices use the internet when it’s available.

Anan is an assistive communication tool, not a medical device.

Ready to give it a go?

Free for the communicator, works offline, private on the device. Best set up with the communicator and their speech pathologist.
